Green Party See Southlands Result As Basis for Growth

13 October 2018

Image of Andrew Bradbury, Green Party ChairWhilst disappointed with the result of the Southland by-election, in which we came in third place with 132 votes for our candidate Andrew Bradbury, we see it providing a base on which to grow.

One in eight voters in Southlands backed our Green programme on 11th October and many more than that had said they were seriously considering voting for us.

We offered fresh thinking on local issues and a willingness to engage across the traditional party perceptions. The Green Party is increasingly being taken seriously as the third party in British politics and it is only a matter of time before that is translated into increased representation through the ballot box.

Adur Green Party is today continuing its debate with organisations and local people on building a sustainable future for the Shoreham area. Whether this is supporting existing and emerging local business activity, challenging mega-structure planning applications, campaigning for a plastic-free future or making our transport infrastructure fit for the 21st century.

We want to thank our many supporters.
