16 July 2021
On Sunday, 11th July, 2021 members and supporters of Adur Green Party met up at the Old Toll Bridge in Shoreham for a community litter pick followed by a picnic lunch. This was one of the first opportunities since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic 16 months ago that we could hold an in-person event, and the turnout was good with over 20 volunteers.
We provided litter pickers, hoops and rubbish bags to everyone who came along, and split up into pairs to pick up litter along the riverside walks on both banks of the river, meeting again outside the Ropetackle.
The weather was on our side, and there were lots of people out and about enjoying the sunshine, walking and cycling along the paths. Considering that we were only out for about an hour litter-picking, we still collected a large number of bags' worth of litter.
On our arrival at the Ropetackle, we bumped into the local Police Community Support Officers who very kindly took this photo. Thanks to them and thanks to all who volunteered their time to take part.
Those who wanted to stay for lunch went off to The Meads for a picnic lunch and a chance to meet the team.
Our next litter pick event is planned for Sunday, 22nd August 2021. See our Events page for details nearer the time.
